Wattenberg, Ben J., The Good News is the Bad News is Wrong. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1984.

Abstract:

The media have been giving us an overdose of the wrong stories and giving us an incorrect view of what's happening in America. In fact, the quality of life has never been better. Our economy continues to grow, values are changing for the better (Americans are patriotic, work-oriented, and traditional), and politics are healthier today than ever before.
