Vergon, Charles B., "Brown at the Threshold of the 21st Century: Enduring or Withering Legacy?" Journal of Negro Education, 63 (1994), 482-500.
Abstract:
There are four lessons to be learned from Brown vs. Board of Education in order not to repeat the mistakes made in this century. One, Brown is not a panacea for all problems with schools; two, plans based on the principles of Brown must be contextual; three, because of demographic changes, communities must periodically adapt; and four, effective and durable approaches to school integration will require coordination with organizations in education, youth services, employment, housing, and transportation.
