Abstract:
An unemployed married woman "borrows" status from her husband and father. For an employed married woman, subjective social class is determined by these two relatives plus certain of her own characteristics. Variables concerning one's mother's background or race do not account for class identification among married working women. Methods of class identification do not vary across classes.
