Vannoy-Hiller, Dana and Philliber, William W., Equal Partners: Successful Women in Marriage. Newbury Park, California: Sage, 1989.

Abstract:

Wives are happy or unhappy in their marriages regardless of their husband's occupation, education, or family income. Women working in "male-typed" jobs are less happy in their marriage than women in "female-typed" jobs are. Both husbands and wives report better marriages when the wife's role expectations are more traditional and when she perceives her husband's role expectations as less traditional.
