Abstract:
Public support for environmental issues peaked just before 1973. Following that, there has been a slight decline in active environmental support but much of that decrease can be attributed to a rise in conservative spending attitudes in general. Since 1969, blacks, women, and lower education groups have shown an increase in environmental concern as they moved out of the undecided category.
