Taylor, D. Garth, "Trends in Black Educational Attainment, and Other Causes of Revisionism in American Ethnic Studies," Paper presented to the Midwest Political Science Association, Milwaukee, 1982.

Abstract:

Blacks are becoming less of a unified socioeconomic group because of the emergence of a sizable black middle class. They are close to the white middle class on social policy issues that do not involve race. Thus the ability to support liberal programs by appealing to anti-racist sentiments will be weakened, and research into the causes of differential attainment within ethnic groups will increase.
