Taylor, D. Garth, "Survey Data for Rural Development Policy: A Summary of a Report," NORC report to Farmer's Home Administration U.S. Department of Agriculture, June, 1979.

Abstract:

Rural and urban areas are similar in terms of problems and attractions. There is slight evidence that the quality of life is better in rural areas. If people were to move to their preferred location of inhabitance, non-metropolitan areas would grow slightly. Opinions about population increases are divided in rural areas with the majority seeing it as advantageous and thus wishing to encourage its growth.
