Mancini, Jay A., "Sex Differences and Domains of Life Satisfaction Among Middle-Aged Adults," Paper presented to the Gerontological Society, Dallas, November, 1978.

Abstract:

Middle-aged females are more satisfied with friendships and family life with the highest predictors of life satisfaction being satisfaction with family life, finances, and residence. Males are more satisfied with their work, and the primary predictors of life satisfaction are satisfaction with friendship, family life, and finances. Differences may be due to socialization experiences and social roles in adulthood.
