Lang, Gladys Engel and Lang, Kurt, "Obscenity, Censorship and Public Opinion in the NEA Controversy," Paper presented to the American Association for Public Opinion Research, Phoenix, May, 1991.
Abstract:
In the NEA controversy, poll results suggest the public did not wish to directly enter the grant process, but for greater openness in the selection of artists for funding. Though many were uneasy with the funding process, there was still much public support for arts spending and freedom of expression.
