Kane, Emily Wright, "Attitudinal Approaches to the Study of Gender Relations: Sex-Role Attitudes or Gender Consciousness?" Paper presented to the American Sociological Association, Atlanta, August, 1988.
Abstract:
Social-psychological and public opinion research investigating gender generally focuses on sex roles and sex-role attitudes. While sex-role attitude research makes an important contribution to understanding women's roles, it cannot provide a complete picture because its assumptions and methods obscure the exploitative nature of gender relations.
