Abstract:
Education is the strongest single predictor of political tolerance. Regional differences between Southerners and non-Southerners exist with regard to political tolerance. Education does not explain away this relationship between region of political tolerance. Religious fundamentalism appears to account for regional differences better than any other explanatory variable.
