Jelen, Ted G., "The Faces of Feminism," Paper presented to the Midwest Political Science Association, Chicago, April, 1987.

Abstract:

Empirical evidence is given to show the distinction between two types of gender-role stereotypes is meaningful to members of the mass public. The first stereotype connotes female inferiority, in that women are unfit to participate in activities traditionally dominated by males. The other stereotype, the difference viewpoint, connotes that men and women have distinctive capabilities.
