Abstract:

Actual church attendance in the US is about half the amount people report. For example, in Chicago 45.7% report weekly church attendance compared to an actual count of 25.7%. Personal and social desirability are potential reasons for this discrepancy. (See responses in ASR February 1998, no: ??, ??, ??, ??)
