Abstract:

The Presbyterian church has had the most disaffiliation of all Protestant churches either by switching or dropping out of religion, a pattern common to "liberal" denominations. The Presbyterian problem is exacerbated as young persons are the most likely to leave and despite a core membership, much of the laity is only superficially attached to the church.
