Ferraro, Kenneth F. and LaGrange, Randy L., "Are Older People Most Afraid of Crime? Reconsidering Age Differences in Fear of Victimization," Journal of Gerontology, 47 (September, 1992), S233-S244.
Abstract:
Older people are not more likely to fear crime than younger people. In fact, for most kinds of victimization, fear of crime declines with age. Older women fear crime more than older men, but this is not an effect of aging. Women of all ages tend to fear crime more than men of all ages.
