Abstract:
Hiring by employee referrals is beneficial for employers in that it enriches the applicant pool and provides social enrichment for new employees, allowing easier socialization into the company. Referrals, however, are not more informed about the job than other applicants, suggesting that the employee tie does not act as an information conduit.
