Abstract:

Individualism, egalitarianism, and support for capitalist values are complex concept which are multidimensional. Longer scales are needed in order to ensure stronger reliability and validity. Much more research in needed to construct quality measures of key economic values and beliefs. Analysis of the GSS indicates patterning effects associated with gender, age, race, education, party identification and ideology.
