Abstract:
Despite the persistence of segregation, more Blacks were living on the same block as whites in 1987 than in 1982. Blacks living near whites were younger, had higher prestige jobs, had fewer children on average, better educated, wealthier, upwardly mobile, and not living in a rural setting.
