Davidson, James D.; Pyle, Ralph E.; and Reyes, David V., "Persistence and Change in the Protestant Establishment, 1930-1992," Social Forces, 74 (September, 1995), 157-175.

Abstract:

The Protestant establishment has lost some ground relative to other groups since the 1930s, but still remains over-represented in the power and cultural elite areas of society. Jews and Catholics especially have made major strides in their climb toward the top of our society. The Protestant establishment, like most superordinate groups, wants to maintain its power and privilege.
