Card, David and Krueger, Alan B., “School Quality and Black-White Relative Earnings: A Direct Assessment,” The Quarterly Journal of Economics, 107 (February, 1992), 151-200.
Abstract:
From 1960 to 1980, the wage differential between black and white men fell 15%. This decrease has been attributed to improvements in the relative quality of black schools. After testing this hypothesis, this article asserts that school improvements explain 20% of the narrowing of the black-white earnings gap between 1960 and 1980. .
