Barnartt, Sharon N. and Harris, Richard J., "Recent Changes in Predictors of Abortion Attitudes," Sociology and Social Research, 66 (April, 1982), 320-334.

Abstract:

Although abortion approval remained constant from 1974 to 1977, the relative importance of predictors of approval changed. For men, sex role ideology became more important, as did church attendance, while educational level became less salient. Women, whose feelings toward abortion were already associated with ideology in 1974, showed a slight decrease in its importance and a slight increase for education.
