Ball, Charles A., “Moral Foundations for a Discourse on Same-Sex Marriage: Looking Beyond Political Liberalism,” Georgetown Law Journal, 85 (June, 1997), 1871ff.

Abstract:

How morality and traditional liberal principles affect peoples acceptance of same sex relationships. Opponents of homosexual rights often refer to the lack of morality associated with homosexual activity. Proponents of homosexual rights avoid discussing issues of morality, but instead concentrate on traditional liberal rights such as equality, tolerance and privacy.
