Bahr, Howard M., "Shifts in the Denominational Demography of Middletown, 1924-1977," Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, 21 (June, 1982), 99-114.
Abstract:
Contemporary Middletown is still predominantly Protestant, but in many ways, the city's Catholics are indistinguishable from its Protestants. There is no evidence of a decline in participation in organized religion. Stability in the denominational distribution of the population masks substantial intergenerational switching.
