Abstract:
By the early 1970's, America's elite became more ethnically heterogeneous than in the past. Though WASPs are still over-represented, they are no longer numerically dominant. Furthermore, WASPs do not seem to be more active or influential than members of some other ethnic groups. Still, certain ethnic groups, in particular non-Irish Catholics, are under-represented among elites.
