Abstract:

The typical older member of south-central-east European ethnic groups in the U.S. was raised in an immigrant home where a language other than English was spoken, has ethnically undivided ancestry, did not go to college, was raised Catholic or Jewish, has not switched religions, and has a spouse of the same religion. Younger members, on the contrary, come from third or later generations, were raised in a home where only English was spoken, have ethnically mixed ancestry, and did go to college.
