Abstract:

Both currently and historically, Blacks have been considerably more likely to receive the death penalty than Whites. Blacks have fewer opportunities for appeals and are more likely to be executed for the rape than are whites. This pattern is a manifestation of the underlying racial oppression of Blacks by Whites.
