Abstract:
GSS and NES measures of political partisanship have less short term and overall variation compared to the Gallup survey. The NES studies relate less strongly than the Gallup surveys to short term electoral results and short term economic and political dynamics, suggesting that Gallup and NES data may generate different conclusions based on party identification.
